DVD_TheThingsWeDidLastSummer[DVD: Encore Home Video – 2003 – 64 mins]. The Things We Did Last Summer is a summer full of fun from 1970s and ‘80s amusement parks and sometimes tacky roadside attractions. We’re off to a good start with our first film called “Escape To Pleasure Island”. Pleasure Island was an amusement park near Boston, Massachusetts. Then it’s off to Busch Gardens The Old Country in Williamsburg, Virginia and a ride on their brand new roller coaster, the Loch Ness Monster. Naturally, during this programme called “Of All Places To Meet A Monster!” you visit Busch Gardens’ many other worlds and attractions and have a bang up day. Our journey continues to Fort of the Osage Family Fun Park in Lake Ozark, Missouri. Fort Osage is one of those out-of-the-way places you hear about. Here you get to experience it first hand! Another roadside attraction is Old Mac Donald’s Farm in Orange County, California. In this film called “Mac Donald’s Farm – Animals Go To School” we find a bounty of trained animals, including a chicken that plays a piano, a goat that butts a butt, and lots more animal fun. Next stop is Disneyland in Anaheim, California. This Disney travelogue was made for the Spanish speaking market. Well anyway, the film is good and we already know “It’s A Small World” (after all)! Our final stop is at Six Flags Over Mid-America in Eureka, Missouri. This Six Flags film is called “Have A Nice Day” and you do have a nice day – a perfect way to top off our vacation. ANDY SHINE SAYS: This series of six amusement park promotional films was interesting to watch. ANDY SHINE’S RATING: Fair / Good.
