DVD_CascadePark[DVD: Lawrence County Historical Society – 2004 – 14 mins]. The history of Cascade Park (New Castle, Pennsylvania) is told through narration, music and vintage photographs from its days as Big Run Falls to its current use as a location for special events such as “Back to the ‘50s.” Cascade Park was once the entertainment centre of Western Pennsylvania. Once a popular picnic spot known as Big Run Falls. It was developed into a trolley park in 1897 by the New Castle Traction Company. Designed by leading landscape architect, Frank Blaisdell, the buildings and amusements enhanced the natural beauty of the setting. ANDY SHINE SAYS: This programme covers the history of the park and its grounds. The amusement park’s rides are mentioned intermittently, but not in detail. ANDY SHINE’S RATING: Fair.

Overall I will have say that I found this DVD rather disappointing. I was a nice and brief summary of the park’s history but so much was skipped. I read the Images of America book about the park which was much better. Very little is mentioned about park’s three roller coasters and rides in general. Very poor time line information as well. I will give this one a 5/10.
