BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH: WHAT’S ON GUIDE.

BlackpoolPleasureBeachWhatsOnGuide[Book: 1992 – 15x21cm – 20 Pages – Many colour photos including a foldout park map]. “Welcome to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, The Greatest Free Admission Amusement Park in the World, and Britain’s most visited tourist attraction. Over 6.5 million people a year enjoy its world-famous rides, shows, shops and restaurants, and most of all, the electric atmosphere. Nearly a century’s experience has produced the 42 acre amusement park with more rides than you’ll find anywhere else in the world. It all started in 1896, when Blackpool’s south shore was mainly sand dunes. A far-sighted man, Alderman W.G. Bean, laid down a ride from America, the Hotchkiss Bicycle Railway, and the rest is history. A Helter Skelter and a Scenic Railway followed, and of course, Sir Hiram Maxim’s Captive Flying Machine and the River Caves, which are still there for you to see today. Then grew a veritable forest of wooden roller coasters, including the Big Dipper and Grand National, to be later complemented by the new generation of steel monsters like the Revolution and the Avalanche. The famous Fun House, which provided hours of enjoyment for millions, and many happy memories too, was lost in a fire last year. But the laughing man has a new home for 1992, and a multi-million pound ride is planned for the site. Nowadays, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is managed by W.G. Bean’s grandson, Geoffrey Thompson, who is continuing the family tradition of providing fun for all ages. Bean said he wanted ‘to make adults feel like children again’ and it’s still basically the same theme today. So, read on, and enter into the world of kids both big and small…” Chapter Points: Coaster City – A Fantastic White Knuckle World; Family Fundays; Showtime – Star Studded Days And Nights Out; Ocean Boulevard; Foldout Park Map; Eating Out – From Sandwiches To Soufflés; Great Events For Everybody In And Around Blackpool; Famous Faces At Blackpool Pleasure Beach; Local Information; Spectacular New Event at Blackpool Pleasure Beach; Blackpool Pleasure Beach Discount Gold Card (application); Blackpool Pleasure Beach Official Travel Partners (official sponsors).
