Since its opening in 1897, Cascade Park (New Castle, Pennsylvania) has welcomed thousands to its varied amusements. The park is an unusually beautiful natural setting, and in the 1890s, when it was called a trolley park, crowds arrived by streetcar. Eventually automobiles took over, and the roller coaster was dismantled to make way for a parking lot. This book does an amazing job at showing the history of the park with lots of photos and information concerning the lake, the falls, the beauty of the park and fashion of the day. If your hope is to read and see lots of photos about the roller coasters and the park rides then you might be disappointed. Then again, this park was never about tons of rides, it was about the beauty of the area. I recently visited this area and could see why it has been so loved. I agree with Andy’s review of ‘Good.’

Having expected more about the amusement park side of the park and being a bit let down is why I would give the book a 5.5/10.
