A FAIRGROUND HERITAGE: THE HISTORY OF BOSTON FAIR.

DVD_AFairgroundHeritage[DVD: Primetime Video Productions – 1994 – 45 mins]. A documentary programme about the historic Lincolnshire fair, from its origins in the 11th century to the present day. This programme features a large quantity of high quality archive film from 1925 to the 1960s, featuring transport, build-ups, sideshows, stalls, and rides such as Walter Shaw’s Moon-Rockets, Harry Lee’s Steam Yachts, Harry Holland’s Cakewalk, and George Aspland’s Venetian Gondola. Combined with up-to-date film and interviews with showmen past and present, this programme tells the complete story. ANDY SHINE SAYS: Narrated by Dave Bussey and with on-screen contributions from Jim Bonner (community archaeologist – Boston), Councillor Keith Dobson (mayor of Boston 1994), James Holmes (showman), Harry Lee (retired showman), Harry Holland (showman), Rocky Thompson (concessionaire), and Rennie Crick (showman), I enjoyed this programme. ANDY SHINE’S RATING: Good.
